The UK withdrew from the European Union (EU) on 1 February 2020 and also left the EU’s Customs Union on 1 January 2021.

The Trade and Cooperation Agreement (TCA) was concluded between the European Union and the United Kingdom on 24 December 2020 and has been applied provisionally since 1  January 2021. Despite the FTA, domestic businesses in their relation with UK companies face changes in trade processes.

The UK's withdrawal from the EU means that it will no longer benefit from the EU's internal market and, from 1 January 2021, will be considered a "third country", i.e. a non-EU country. The exception to this is Northern Ireland, where EU customs, VAT and statistical legislation will continue to apply under the agreement.

As a result of the above, the rules of entry and on exit have changed in the case of Great Britain (England, Scotland, Wales), and products coming from or entering Great Britain have also become subject to customs procedures.

The free trade agreement between the European Union (EU) and the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland offers a good opportunity for maintaining smooth trade flows.

After 1 January 2021, the Agreement on Preferential Trade will provide a 0% rate of duty on all goods (including agricultural products) in a uniform manner for goods of preferential origin, ie a kind of duty exemption.

The condition for receiving the discounts:

- the preferential origin of the goods moving between the parties is proved,

- the preferential treatment on importation is claimed on the customs declaration
